A feasibility study of the Minsheng-Xizhi line, including development of
surrounding land, was approved by the Ministry of Transportation and
Communications in December 2011. The preliminary plan recommends that the line
be built partly underground and partly elevated. It will start from Dadaocheng
Station beneath Minsheng West Road in Taipei City, then run along Minsheng West
and East roads, pass through Minsheng Community, and extend beneath the Keelung
River to Neihu District, before changing to an elevated mode and ending at
Xintai 5th Road in Xizhi District, New Taipei City. The 17-kilometer line will
have 15 stations and one depot located at the Shehou area in Xizhi.
Comprehensive planning, including studies related to development of surrounding
land, began in December 2012 and has not yet been approved by the Ministry of
Transportation and Communications.
Circular Line North Section & South Section
The Circular line will pass through 10 administrative districts across Taipei
City and New Taipei City: Wenshan, Xindian, Zhonghe, Banqiao, Xinzhuang, Wugu,
Luzhou, Sanchong, Shilin, and Zhongshan. It will connect with 10 MRT lines: the
Wenhu, Xindian, Ankeng, Zhonghe, Banqiao, and Xinzhuang lines, the Taiwan
Taoyuan International Airport Access MRT System, the Luzhou line, the Shezi,
Shilin, Beitou light rail lines, and the Tamsui line.
The Executive Yuan has approved two-phase construction of the Circular line.
Phase I will pass through Xindian, Zhonghe, Banqiao, and Xinzhuang districts and
connect with five MRT lines: the Xindian, Zhonghe, Banqiao, and Xinzhuang lines,
and the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport Access MRT System. Plans for the
north and south sections of the Circular line (regarded as separate projects
from Phase I) will be submitted to the Ministry of Transportation and
Communications for review.
Shezi, Shilin, and Beitou Light Rail Lines
An LRT system with two routes is recommended for the Shezi, Shilin,
and Beitou areas. One line will run east to west across the study area and the
other north to south across the study area.
1. North-South Route
This will run from Beitou through Zhoumei and Shezi along Chongqing North Road
and end at the Xinzhuang line's Daqiaotou Station. The route will be about 9.1
km long and connect 10 stations and one depot.
2. East-West Route
This will run from Shezi through Zhoumei along Fuguo Road and Zhongcheng Road
before terminating near the Tianmu Baseball Stadium. The route will be about 7.5
km long and connect 11 stations and one depot.
Both routes will be constructed in an elevated mode. The completed corridor
studies of these two routes have been submitted to the Executive Yuan via the
Ministry of Transportation and Communications for approval.
The corridor study of the North-South line was completed in December
2007 and is currently being reviewed by the Ministry of Transportation and
The study proposed a single route, which will begin from Jiannan Rd. Station on
the north & south sections of the Circular line, run along Jingye 3rd Road,
Lequn 2nd Road, Ruiguang Road, and Xinhu 1st Road. It will then pass under the
Keelung River and run beneath Jiankang Road, Guangfu North and South roads,
Keelung Road, Xinhai Road, Xinsheng South Road, and Siyuan Road, before going
underneath the Xindian River and connecting with Chenggong Road in Yonghe and
Zhonghe districts, New Taipei City. It will terminate on Jinping Road in Zhonghe
District. The 16.6-kilometer line will have 15 stations and one depot.
Wanda-Zhonghe-Shulin Line Phase II
The Wanda-Zhonghe-Shulin line Phase II will continue along Jincheng Road, New
Taipei City where Phase I ends then switch to an elevated mode after passing
Minde Road. It will cross over Chenglin Bridge, run along Jincheng Road,
Zhonghua Road, Bade Street, and Daan Road then turn to Zhongzheng Road before
ending at the Xinzhuang line's Huilong Station. The 13.3-kilometer route will
have two underground stations and 11 elevated stations.
