"Stage" is a colosseum for performing arts, a place to show the different aspects of life. "Platform" is a transitory point for passers-by, a place for waiting, departure, farewell and reunion, where the plot of human drama is revealed.

The costumes and facial make-up of Taiwanese folk arts and Chinese traditional opera, with their rich colors and various forms, represent special roles and complex characters. These colors and forms are transformed into abstract elements, and then minimized into two curtains of lines and flat surfaces.

The traditional essences of poetry and music are applied to this artwork. Many light boxes show swirling clouds in a vibrant blue sky, lighting up the murky tunnel with vivid indigenous memories. Furthermore, the artists wish to bring nature to the urban world by installing music notes which seem to jump out and to infuse the viewer with the spirit of music. Hopefully, the artwork will alleviate all the urban pressures one feels on a daily basis and allow the enjoyment of nature's peaceful rhythms with a poetic touch. As the poet Lo-men put it: "The sky is always for the birds."

A population, indigenous to one place, one cohesive city perhaps, is likely to experience similar growth experiences. Such a populace would tend to develop values that are much the same concerning world views, cultural mores and societal behavior. Coming from such a unified formative environment, this type of population could even be seen as chasing the same kinds of dreams and having many of the same desires.

From the different stages of desire to the flight trajectory of a simple paper airplane, a common childhood device used to playfully fulfill the universal wish to fly, the focused passage of the indigenous populace is demonstrated.

The speed of modernization is the drumbeat of the city. Every minute, streams of busy travelers fill up the wide spaces at the stations. The network of trains, through the images of the passing platforms, divides the landscapes--as well as the mindscapes--of the various destinations.
In this project, we discard the image of a hectic city center, and let the green rail track take travelers into a nature-embracing station-this is Xiaobitan Station's "The Way to the Very Joyance," where the encounters that await us could also be the new land of happiness that we pass by.

The columns inside the station portray rising clouds, which depict in slender lines the soft hands of mothers from our embedded memory. It warmly receives each traveler in a fixed standing pose. Gracefully brimming over from the apathetic modern-architecture structure, the happy globs seem to coagulate memorable moments. Moreover, the benches show proud moxie with their firm spines joyfully accepting their duties, carrying sweet weight for the passenger. The strength they provide serves the travelers day and night.

Then, leaving the platforms, there in the Westside Square stand white open wings that seem to be about to fly off into the sky at any second. Already ready, they propel people's thoughts further forward. The friendly signs alongside the benches also provide people with an imaginary map to wonderland.

On the quiet eastside of the station, the crystalline, organic design symbolizes the sweet taste of wonderful life experiences, and further consolidates the tranquil moment before taking off. Simultaneously, the surrounding glass lattice interweaves a bewildering aura, imprinting travelers' silent memories on the glass with both lucid and vague drops. As it turns into the night, the hazy blue breath in the air gently deliberates a soft call taking form. Passengers still walk to and fro, a relaxed beat, and perceive beauty in each frozen moment.

Knitting various stops and trips, the tracks seem to take passengers for just another common trip. Nevertheless, the experience of Xiaobitan Station's "The Way to the Very Joyance" will become a transit of wonder. The shortcut, happiness as a destination is opened beyond the lineal speed and always wholeheartedly welcomes people who step into this fantasy journey of happiness.

The architectural wall seems to brim over as "metal cream," softening all the definition and stiffness in space. It also creates an amazing visual impact. Shaped as melting toffee, it brings a sweet sense of happiness to our minds, spreading over passengers from all directions. Metaphors of happiness are placed in all rounded corners, easing the coldness and loneliness of every passing soul with a warming attitude.

The cloud that climbs up the columns creates different overhead scenery in a free-curving form. Tracing the waves of cloud, people will be able to sense a cheerful change of heart and momentarily forget the fast-paced life they have to keep up with in reality. The rising light not only offers a soothing aura, but also calls for the steps to come and go further.

A cluster of happiness is initiated from connections between individuals. The strength of life, held by love and harmony, engraves the image of happiness.

Run by technological sensors and programs, the artwork shifts the setting of a family photo from a traditional photograph studio into the Xiaobitan MRT Station, where is surrounded with the natural landscape and sunshine providing a blueprint of never-ending happiness.

Here, in front of your eyes is a plastic figure as the blueprint to symbolize the cluster of values for family happiness. On the other end, visitors can store their own images in the monitor with an easy controller on the handle of the vehicle driving on the way to happiness. Everyone can take part in this happy band. All of us are elements of one family. We, all, are the everlasting one in the happy land.
